Wednesday Write-Up: Thank you, Thank you!

I was quite excited and honored to find out a couple of weeks ago that I was nominated for the Sunshine Award by the wonderful blogess, Mummy Flying Solo!  sure to check out her blog, her positive attitude in her posts are contagious and her humor and insight will leave you hooked.

This award like the other two I have received so far (The Liebster Award and The WordPress Family Award) are technically chain letters without the gloom and doom of bad luck if you do not respond. I personally love the opportunity to participate in these as I enjoy sharing the blogs that I read and love. So without further ado, The Sunshine Award.

The Rules:

To accept this award, one must:

1.  Link back to the blogger that nominated you

2. Tell 11 Facts about yourself

3.  Nominate 10 blogs that you feel should get the Sunshine Award

11 Facts About Me:

1. I had this whole post written, and saved it numerous times (pretty much every other sentence), only to have WordPress lose it somewhere in the cosmos. So this is my second time writing this post. And it is midnight, so I am truly burning the midnight oil now. Thank you WordPress, I not so silently hate you right now!

2. I had never left my home country of the USA until we moved to Asia in 2006.

3. I was a cocktail server in Las Vegas for 2 years.

4. I was a hard core atheist, to the point of strongly disliking anyone that called themselves Christian, until I became on in 2006. God has a plan for me I guess. 🙂

5. Air conditioning makes my ears hurt, to the point of giving me a migraine.

6. Despite starting and stopping college numerous times, I still do not have a degree. This is one of my most embarrassing and disappointing things about me.

7. I was homeschooled since second grade, and graduated when I was 15 years old with a 4.0 GPA.

8. My favorite band of all times is The Beatles, I have read over 60 books about them and listened to them non-stop in my teens. I also totally ruined them for my parents at the time as well, Sorry Mom and Dad!

9. I have rather large feet, size 11 (US sizes, 43 in European) and find it almost impossible to find shoes outside the United States.

10. I love to sing Karaoke.

11. I hate to wear my glasses ( I am near-sighted) because seeing the frames in my peripheral vision makes me feel claustrophobic. On the flip side, I have to wear sunglasses outside because my retinas are white and the light is so intense that I get really bad headaches.

10 Blogs that I would like to pass the Sunshine Award along to:

I decided that I was going to nominate blogs that I have not nominated before, I love all the blogs that I follow and read and very much wish I could nominate everyone. This decision made it a bit easier for me to complete this part of the award.

**To all the bloggers that I am nominating, do not feel that you need to accept or participate, just know that I love reading your posts and look forward to them every week!

1. Fives on the Fly

2. Thrifty Travel Mama

3. Joy Loves Travel

4. Travels With Curley

5. Here Today Vanagon Tomorrow

6. Working Mom Musings

7. Barb Taub

8.  Journey 2D Future

9. 4 Worn Passports

10. A Wee Nest

Thank you again to Mummy Flying Solo for the nomination! Now I am off to bed, I am afraid that I will be seeing the sunshine sooner than I would like. Happy dreams everyone.

Congratulations on your award! Those are exceptionally fun facts about yourself! Number one about WordPress (at that point Word-de-press in more ways than one!) brings back some of the posts I lost/rewrote. Such a sinking feeling. Never would have guessed about not leaving home and atheism. Cocktail waitress in Las Vegas! At a swanky place? 🙂 Anyway, fun post. (Were you raised Christian while homeschooled? I’m thinking about my kids. I wouldn’t want to do something to deter their faith. So if I need to watch how I do things, I’d like to know!)

      Haha! I love that… Word-de-press!
I was actually raised Christian and had faith until I ran into some “Christians” that were not very nice to me in my teens. Also I rebelled against almost everything my parents wanted for me as a teen (and early adult). I was just one of those kids that had to really make all my choices for myself and experience all the bad and good with that. Then got mixed up with a bad crowd yada yada… There was nothing my parents could have done any differently or better in my case. 🙂 Anyways, I came back to Christ at the age of 26. I couldn’t be more happy about it.
I served cocktails at a swanky locals casino called the Suncoast.

I’m trying to picture what you wore at casino! Ha! Ha!

Okay. I’ll just try to keep doing what I think is right then for my kids. And trusting God for His divine plan!

I wore a corset and a thong with a couple pairs of thick tights… I would definitely not wear them now. 🙂

I’m sure you wore them well! However, I could use a corset now more than ever!

Gosh, life really changed for you in 2006!

Also, I know exactly what you mean about air con. I get a blocked ear, too (only one).

Congratulations on your award and thanks for sharing some great blogs!

It sure did. 2006 was a banner year. My next banner year was 2013 when we left on our trip! 🙂

Oh no! I can’t believe it lost your post! I’m blaming third world internet 😉 Fascinating that you used to be an atheist. I’d love to hear more about that story! And also that youd never left the states before you Asia move! So interesting! Big congrats on your very well deserved award. It was a pleasure to pass it on.

I am also blaming the third world internet. I have never had that happen before. Teaches me not to leave writing my posts until late at night. 🙂

Ah lessons. How they are both frustrating and valuable. Tip: sometimes I write my posts in word and then copy them in and add the pics etc

You know I used to do that and then kept having formatting problems. Either way I would rather have to reformat a little than completely lose what I wrote. I almost cried :-/

Yeah those awards posts are long too. Were you using the “paste from word” function to paste them in? That might sort your formatting issues?

No I stupidly wrote it straight to WordPress… Never again… Well unless I have I use my phone I guess

I enjoyed your post and your recommendations very much! You know how they say “nothing is really ever “gone” on your computer. I think they lie! I’ve many things that if indeed they weren’t actually gone should have been receiving awards for best hide and seek items!

Thanks mom! Yeah, I should have chad look for it in the depths of the my hard drive (or whatever… I was trying to sound like I knew what I was talking about haha).

Congratulations! So you wear contact lenses? I wear glasses and sometimes they bother me too, but I cannot get myself to try contact lenses. How did you like Las Vegas? I think by traveling all around the world you will get more lessons any college can offer you 🙂

    • andthreetogo
      February 8, 2014 at 8:47 am

I do wear contact lenses and I LOVE THEM! They changed my life, and I am sure will make me have less wrinkles as I squint less out in the sun now that I can wear sunglasses. I used to think I would be unable to poke myself in the eye, but you really don’t feel the contact going in and your finger (usually) doesn’t touch your eye.
I did not like living in Las Vegas. I did so for 5 years, but it was actually very boring unless you gamble. I think a weekend visit to Las Vegas is perfect, any more and it’s dull.
I agree that experience does account for so much in our lifelong education, but that piece of paper would be nice when looking for work and such. And, of course, the sense of accomplishment. 🙂
