Wednesday Write-Up: Anniversary

This month we is our one year anniversary of our love affair with Thailand! And what a year it has been, we started off in Bangkok for a few days, then made our way to Hua Hin, where we stayed for more three eventful months, then onto Phuket here for the last 9 months. Has it really been that long already? It’s crazy how long time has flown.

Our plan when we left the states was to eventually end up in Thailand forever, but every three months when we have to do a visa run, we mull over moving onto the next place. This world is so huge, the options of where to go seem limitless. We have many places (mostly Portugal) that we would love to visit again for longer periods of time, but nothing can compare with the food, housing prices, and beaches here in Thailand.  So we stay a bit longer and rest for a little while (a year now!) before we ramble on.

A wonderful part of settling for a bit in Phuket is that it is very easy to travel to other countries from here. Australia, Indonesia, China, and Nepal are places that we have on our list for visa runs. We have to leave the country every three months for our visa, so we are forced to travel (I know, we are very spoiled). It is perfect for our traveling lifestyle. We have a home base, but still get to see the world.

My happiness being settled has a short shelf life though, usually about two years, so we shall see how long Phuket holds us until we feel we must move on. Eventually we will tire of traveling around here and will be ready to go somewhere else.  I would love to do another run in Great Britain and Europe… but it has to be nice weather, so we will have to plan it for next summer hopefully.

I am excited to see what happens in the next years time, anything can happen! I cannot believe that we are here and that we have seen so much in the last year. Thanks for joining us on our journey and making it even more exciting with your love, comments, sharing, and encouragement!

What has been your favorite part of  your life in the last year? Was it travel? New family members? An awesome pair of shoes (if so, I am soooo jealous!)? Leave a comment and join in the conversation!

Happy anniversary and cheers to more adventures in Thailand! Mine was the recent Blogapalooza because that was the first time I did something for myself in such a long time! 🙂

That looked so fun! And Btw, your hair did not look orange in the pictures at all! Want to share your link about that so others can read about it to? I loved your post. (As always!)

Haha, you had Great Britain and nice weather after each other 😉 lucky that part was followed by ‘summer’ to up the likelihood 😀

I think the best part of life last year has been life itself. Life with family, work, friends, interests, trying to have a balance…

I know right?! Hahaha… We got lucky once in England, I seriously doubt that would happen again.
I love that answer! Enjoying our total life and all it entails! 🙂

Congratulations on your year in Thailand! It definitely seems like you have found a good thing there 🙂 Our favorite parts of the last year have been experiencing wildlife, especially bison and wolves in Yellowstone National Park (from a safe distance), gray whales in Baja California, and sea turtles here in the Yucatan Peninsula.

I would love to see all those in person… Well, except the wolves probably. 🙂
To be able to show Z the real thing instead of you tube videos to show her would be fantastic!

Congratulations on the year! How lovely to be forced to travel 🙂 . It’s kind of nice to be at the gateway to great destinations isn’t it?. That was our motivation for moving to Eurooe. Discover as much as we can, so l would say my favorite part this past year has been good health, for allowing us to travel!!!!

It is a wonderful thing that is for sure! That is a great answer, traveling does take some physical fortitude, good health is imperative!

Hopefully not! Well at least your family is big enough that you will probably have a row or two all to yourselves.

Can u believe they don’t seat us together!? We have to beg passengers.

You should be able to request it! I can’t believe that!

They tell us we pay for a flight, not a seat. Sometimes, at the gate, the person there will be compassionate and manipulate seats to get us into at least two groups rather than a person here, a person here, a person here, etc.

That’s so horrible. We’ve never run into that. Regardless of the airline we have always gotten seats together.

A whole year in one country just about qualifies you as a run of the mill expat 😉 !

Congrats on the year and enjoy the warmth!

Happy anniversary. How wonderful, adventurous and brave of you to lead this nomadic life. I dream it, and maybe someday, but for now we are very firmly planted in Japan. As a foreigner, that brings its own adventures, but… oh to throw caution to the wind, unleash myself of material belongings and set off with my family on the adventure of a lifetime.

You’re right the world is big… but sometimes you have to slow down and appreciate a little corner of it!

Congratulations my dear. Thailand is such a lovely place to be living in and a wonderful country to raise your daughter. Great people. Great weather. Lucky girl. 🙂

The favourite part of my life is right now! I live in a fantastic city – Berlin. I’ve got a marvellous husband, and my son who is 12 is as funny as I am and even though he’s half-British and half-German, he has a marvellous sense of British humour. Phew! I’ve also got my blog which I’m enormously proud of and a couple of really snazzy, high-heeled. Very high-heeled shoes LOL!

Sounds like a fantastic year to me! And the shoes… I must say I am a wee bit jealous… okay, I am very jealous. Haha
