The World’s Your Oyster-Bangkok 2016

There is no thought of Bangkok  without the lyrics of “One Night in Bangkok” which was sung by Murray Head rattling through my brain a few million times. I found the singers name  from Wikipedia.  In all honesty, I have never known who actually sung this life-changing catchy song. Okay, I am exaggerating a little and already getting way off topic. This means that I will have to keep this short… unless you want me to go on and on about other songs that have gotten stuck in my head over the years.

Time flies, my ten-year American passport was within 6 months of expiring. (That was probably the weirdest segue way ever.)The funny, strange not haha funny thing about passports is if you want to venture to a country outside your home country, most of them will not let you in if your passport is within 6 months of expiring.  Chad, Z, and I have some travels in the works this year so I needed to go in the month of January to renew my passport at the US Embassy in Bangkok. Instead of just going by myself, we decided to make it a longer family trip. No road trip this time though, sorry folks, we decided to fly this time.

The first day in Bangkok, I went to the Embassy which was just a short scooter taxi ride from our hotel. What a thrill! It was my first time on a scooter taxi and it was an absolute blast. Logically I knew it was extremely dangerous, but in knowing that, arriving at my destination was a complete adrenaline rush. Needless to say, I didn’t need coffee that morning.

The process for getting my passport was so simple and quick I was able to take a scooter taxi back to our hotel (WHEE!) and grab some breakfast with Chad and Z.

Now I am just going to share a few photos from what we did while we were in Bangkok and then I will come back and link to the posts I share in the future about our trip. There is just too much that I want to write about each thing to share in one post. So here I go—

Snow Town

We went to the snow in Bangkok! SnowLand was pretty cool-pun completed intended.

Children’s Discovery Museum Bangkok

We went to the Childrens Discovery Museum near the Chatachak Weekend Market. Here Z is getting enveloped with a giant bubble made by Chad.

Imaginia in The Emporium

Z and I had a Girls Day Out in Bangkok. Our favorite place by far was Imaginia in The Emporium. Here we are on the galaxy slide. I cannot wait to write about this place. It was FANTASTIC!

Come back next Friday for the first installment of longer posts about our recent trip to Bangkok in 2016. Thanks for reading and feel free to leave a comment. Let’s chat!

I agree. Although I will admit that I only post about the fun things. There are a ton of normal, mundane things in between… A TON! I should probably post sometimes about housework and cooking just to give people a real look into my life… What do you think? Haha

Oh, goodness! I didn’t know who wrote that song either! And it will stick in my head. And songs stick in my head all the time! Your trip sounds like it went conveniently well! Isn’t it strange you can’t travel within 6 months of expiration. 🙂 Looks like it had some great places for a family! Have a great weekend! –Terri

I’ve got to get my passport renewed soon, too. I hope the process goes smoothly for the both of us. Happy Bangkok-ing! 😉

Sounds like Bangkok has changed a lot since I was there last, fleetingly, over 15 years ago!

I used to really dislike Bangkok, but realized it was just because I would stay on Kao San
Road and party the whole time. Haha. Bangkok is so much fun now that I know
There is more to do there haha. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
