Monday Montage: An Oasis on the Island of Phuket

I have been doing some creative things away from the computer lately! Woo Hoo! A friend of mine here in Phuket owns and operates an awesome business where she facilitates and schedules different types of classes at her little workshop and around the island.

I have now taken a class in clay work and a series of three classes to learn acrylic painting at Oasis Ed. Phuket and am immensely stoked about it.

My new hang out!

Travel takes some creativity and since I was blogging while we traveled, I never felt like I was being creatively stifled. To be completely accurate, I have always felt like I was not a creative person. It was not until we settled here in Phuket that I felt like I needed to do something with my hands that wasn’t just typing keys. Oasis Ed. Phuket is the place that has helped me with that! (Thank’s Kez!)

I will just share one of my paintings, the one that I actually like, I call it “tomatoes”, obviously creativity in titles is not in the cards for me…

I made this! Loving the classes that are offered at Oasis Ed. Phuket!

Now just a few other photos before I say good-bye and get to painting with Z!

I had to take a picture of this trucks mudflats. Some of the pictures you see on mudflats here are just hilarious!

Z and Jingle decided a few mornings ago that she needed to go somewhere. Morning bed head and pjs are totally appropriate for a morning drive, right?!

So glad to hear about your class Jen, and that you are doing some art. I love your tomatoes! It never really matters what people think of your art though. The important thing is you’re doing something fun and that nourishes your creative side. It can be very restorative. Paint away!!

Wow, you’ve really got some mad tomato-painting skills! That really sounds like fun, though I would be totally intimidated because my artistic skills are pretty much nil.

      Thanks Amy!
So are mine (artistic skills), or so I thought. You never know. I will say the most daunting part was that I was comparing myself to the other people in the class. As soon as I stopped that (it comes and goes honestly), it was so much more fun! And I painted better as well I think.

Art classes! Congratulations! So healthy for your brain! So stimulating! The painting is great! (I want to tease you and say I thought they were apples, but how does that come across on the internet? πŸ™‚ I’m totally joking, and you should definitely keep this area developing! It’s amazing! I like it!)

Oh my, I totally thought they looked more like apples too, so “how about them apples?”…
Yep that doesn’t come across over
The interwebs either ha! I never thought tomatoes could be so difficult and so interesting to paint. All three paintings I have done now are of food, I need to branch out. My kitchen isn’t big enough for so many food type paintings. Any suggestions?
