Monday Montage: Gone to Reno

Chad and I are on the road again for a short trip to Reno, Nevada. Just the two of us! Zoë is staying with my parents, so we are on OUR OWN!!!  So I have written this post ahead of time, I am so proud of myself. It’s a rare occurrence that I write a post more than a couple of hours before it needs to be published…  I can now go have a romantic overnight trip with Chad and not have to worry about what to write while I am having fun getting some real time with my wonderful husband.  Hooray!  I wonder if I will remember to have a conversation without being interrupted by an adorable almost-three-year-old every other sentence? I don’t know if I even have full thoughts anymore. We shall see… Hopefully my conversational skills come back to me, just like riding a bike,

Anyways,  I have been spending most of my days (and nights) hanging out with family and friends. Chad is working on a great post for Friday this week that will highlight some of the most “American” things we have done. Make sure to subscribe to our blog if you haven’t already, you don’t want to miss his post.   Oh, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram too!

Here are some more pictures of Sonoma County, California that I have taken this week…

River Front Park near my parents place is beautiful! This is just one of the many beautiful parks in the area.

The inside of a Kmart... yep, I'm good to not have to go in one of these again for another year.

Pre-cooked bacon... but what about the lovely smell that cooking bacon leaves in the house?!

A lovely camouflage truck... Wait, can you see it? It may be invisible to the naked eye.

Ooh, sounds grand! I bet you’ll spend the first half of the trip talking about parent stuff 🙂 . That’s my prediction – you’ll have to let me know if I’m right!

Hope you have a great weekend away 🙂 We almost rented a place in Reno, but the fact that Vegas has an international airport swayed us. It’s nice to see we’re not alone in trying to get in a few “American” things before leaving the country. We have just two days before we fly back to Mexico on Wednesday, so we are stocking up on English-language workbooks for homeschool, renting DVDs from our library (we’re going to miss this being right down the street), and going from place A to B in a vehicle of our own. Can’t wait to see what ends up on your “American” things list 🙂

The international airport does make a difference (and flights to and from Reno are VERY expensive). Have fun in your last two days!
I love having libraries so easily available as well, I don’t when know if Phuket has a library, let alone one with English books. I should probably research it 🙂

The silence without kids is always deafening to me! I hope you had/have a great trip! It sounds wonderful!

The bacon and Kmart–so USA. And what about that smell of fresh-made bacon? We are quite used to it! But it does make me want to go shower after I make breakfast! (Good smell for breakfast–not all day, eh!)

Can’t wait to see your Wednesday post and Friday post!

Oh the smell is wonderful, I agree… Hence the horribleness of pre cooked bacon! 🙂 how could they do such a thing.
I actually am one of those people that will cook a whole breakfast in the bacon grease after 🙂 *drool*

Have fun on your getaway! Agree with you on the bacon. I can’t even call that bacon.

I hope you had a wonderful time away. Over the decades of raising kids we really found that this alone time, even if just for a few hours is so vital to the relationship. Otherwise those cute three year olds go off to college and one can’t remember what in the world the two of you talked about prior. Good for you to be proactive.

I agree. It’s been a year since we have really had a chance to go out as adults without z. 🙂 we are totally taking advantage of the grandparents that have really missed their granddaughter.

Oooh what a treat to be able to go on a getaway with your husband! You’ll have to do a post on your trip. I lived in Reno for a while as a kid and other than gambling and Tahoe (which isn’t really Reno..), I can’t remember if there was anything to do there. But of course I wasn’t there with a husband and no kids! 🙂 Enjoy!
