Photo Issues….Help!

I have had computer issues today…

In fact, I had almost completed my post about our trip to Koh Lanta, Thailand today and then had to spend an hour and a half trying to figure out how to get the damn photos into my computer so that I could place them in my post.

But my computer is out of storage space and Picasa is giving me fits and I can’t get my pictures off my phone and … ARGH! So I need to take a TON of time and find an online photo storage space and then transfer everything and then use them in my post. Fun times are ahead!

I could spew some really choice words right now, but this is a family friendly blog, so a smile is now plastered on my face and I am writing these words instead. See, look how mature I am?!

Next week, I am hoping that my post about Koh Lanta will be up and ready for your enjoyment-with pictures even!

So this is my call for help, how do you store your photos? Leave a comment and help me please?

Oh oh!!! So excited to introduce you to…. GOOGLE PHOTOS!!! It’s changed my life a few months ago and I’m currently in the process of uploading aaaaallll my photos onto (G has already done this). It’s the next level of Picasa, which I never liked. There’s free unlimited storage, but Google says they “downgrade” the quality if it’s super high. I’ve uploaded pictures from both my point and shoot and my phone, and none of the quality nor the size has been decreased. If you’re a super professional photographer who shoots in RAW, then the free storage isn’t for you, but for people like you and I, this this is the absolutely best. I’ve freed up so so so much room on my computer! You’d think I was working for Google Photos with the way I try to sell them to everyone, but I swear I’m not. Also, you can share albums (and let people add photos to it if you choose) and and and… Photos also creates gifs and stylized photos and stories and oooo it’s so great! I promise the storage issue won’t be a problem again, as the photos are stored in the cloud so you can delete the hard copies.

Bonus… you can just install the Photos app, connect to the internet, and your photos will magically upload and you don’t have to do anything! You can drag and drop all your photos from your computer onto the library, too. So easy and intuitive.

Let me know if you’re not convinced yet 😉

Also, not related, but if you use Chrome, you should use the extensions called “Lazarus: Form Recovery”. It’s saved me quite a few times!

This is fantastic info! Thank you so much Roma! I just deleted my Picasa because I was just having so many issues. Also Chad told me that they are actually phasing it out and now I know why… Google Photos sound amazing and I LOVE FREE! Thanks so much and lets hang out soon ok?! Miss you guys!

You’ll love the ease of Photos. I really enjoy Dropbox, but for someone who has about 50GB of photos, I don’t want to pay for Dropbox premium when Photos is free and has more features.
And yes, please! We’re jetting off to another island this week for a couple weeks, but let’s connect after that. Your blog consistently makes me wish I was better at blogging myself! 🙂

Hi! How are you!!? We are sunning and “surfing” it! Yay! Anyhow, I use Dropbox. Roma really seems to like Google. I’ve not used it specifically. But when I worked on that little cookbook I did with my sister, she used it for us. She’d take the photos and put them in there. Then we could look at them “together.” But other than that, I don’t know anything about it. But I find I post a LOT more when I don’t scold myself for not using photos. 🙂 But, we’re writing on some different topics, eh? Although I have tons of recipes I don’t post because photos are a pain in the butt! Good luck! I’d love to know what you end up using!

I am good… I have been so busy with the in-laws here, my goodness I barely had time to breathe! It was a great visit though and now I am revived and ready to get back to normal life (can life every really be called normal).
I say post those recipes (please please pretty please) whether you have photos or not. But I agree food photos are just the worst to get right.
I have used dropbox in the past, just to share files with people. Maybe I will try both and see what I like most. Why not, right? I am sure I have time for that haha. I will let you know what happens.
Thanks for commenting and helping me out Terri! I will definitely be around more now so I look forward to chatting more often!

I like Dropbox because there’s a feature where it’ll automatically upload the pictures you take on your phone to your Dropbox folder, so you’re never having to upload all of your pics from your phone to some other site. It looks like you can do that with Google Photos too, but whatever, I love Dropbox. 🙂
