Holiday Catch-Up

Well, the holiday season is officially over unless you follow Z’s theory that Christmas is a part of  New Years and that it is still New Years because it lasts for 20 days. Where she gets this stuff I have no idea, but it is pretty cute hearing her explain it to you.

Regardless of my  4-year-olds theories of holiday timelines, the holidays are over and I have to say I am really happy about it. Whew! I made it! I get so much anxiety around this time of year. Making sure I get the right gifts, doing enough to explain the “reason for the season” with Z, decorating, baking, making phone calls to wish everyone a happy holiday… it wears on me. I even sent out Christmas cards this year! I know, it’s crazy!  Of course, I love it, but I also get so extremely exhausted and feel like I need a month-long retreat just to recoup from it all.

I am going to quickly recap about our holidays, and then I will start writing posts about more exciting things, like travel!

Christmas day, we ended up going to a brunch, which again was against our better judgment. I am going to remember this lesson for next year for sure… no more Christmas brunches. The food was meh, the company was nice, but we really didn’t know anyone so there wasn’t a real fun feeling… also there was too much good wine. I know, I know, you probably never thought you would read these words from me, but my subsequent headache from said good wine was not pleasant.

At the Christmas brunch. I feel so happy that I got to spend time with Chad and Z. :)

The best part of Christmas Day for me was seeing Z’s face when she discovered that Santa arrived and when she opened her gifts. She is one spoiled and also very kind and appreciative little girl. I love seeing her interact with her dad and me and her pup. She is truly an awesome kid (sorry for all the bragging, but occasionally it slips past without me being able to stop it).

The day after Christmas we took a road trip to our old haunt, Hua Hin! What a time we had, it was wonderful! There will be more on that in a later post.

New years Eve, Chad and I went out by ourselves for the evening and ended up hanging out with great friends at an awesome restaurant in the northern part of Phuket. Bampot is quickly becoming our go-to date night restaurant. I also will be writing a post about them as well soon. What better excuse to go eat and drink there again but for a blog post! Right?! Right.

The rest of the first week of the new year we have started to become productive again. See, even in Thailand where Christmas is low-key one still gets the unproductive doldrums during the holiday season! I am back working out 6 days a week, eating healthier, and Z is back in school (woo hoo!). Life becomes normal, though we have lots of travels planned for this year, so stay tuned!

Thanks again everyone for reading and commenting! I am so happy that I get to keep in touch with you all for another year!

Xoxox,

Jenny
