Birthday Night in Bangkok

The day had arrived!!! My birthday was here and our night out in Bangkok was upon us!

After a long day of waiting in Immigration for our visas and some compulsory shopping at Central World for books, Chad and I got ready for our night out in the city.

Before we left Z sweetly had everyone sing “Happy Birthday” over some chocolate marshmallow sticks with tons of sprinkles. I tell you, this girl knows what I love. She had me at hello…

It was time to go! EEEE! Chad and I first met 6 of our Bangkok friends at Soul Food Mahanakorn. Located in the Thonglor area, this restaurant prides itself on using fresh, sometimes organic ingredients to make Thai street food. I highly recommend a meal or two at this delicious restaurant if you are in Bangkok… Their cocktails are pretty darn good too!

Lucky for me, my friend Blue took photos of the food for me (she even served me everything the way it’s supposed to be eaten) so you can see everything in the slideshow below. One of the couples also got me a decadent macadamia vanilla cake… I loved it so much that I brought the leftovers of it on the plane ride home! I love being the birthday girl!

After dinner most of our friends had to jet off as it was a Tuesday and they had to work in the morning. I love my friends and so appreciate that they came out to help me celebrate with excellent food.

Our friends A and A then took us to this fantastic bar called Shades of Retro. It had just begun to rain, so it gave us plenty of time to look around inside at all the crazy retro relics and have some fantastic drinks… All of the cocktails were reasonable price and tasty.

I honestly can’t remember all the drinks I had, but the one we had at the end of the night was massive, it was a  glass of watermelon something! (I really need to start writing this stuff down.) It was awesome! I really should have just drunk those all night!

Our friends had to leave after (quite) a few drinks, but first they showed us to another bar in the area called Iron Fairies. It was dark and filled with gargoyles and people. We had one drink there but it was just too dark in there for me. I felt like I was squinting at everyone trying to see everything around me… people probably thought I was giving them the evil-eye.

And that was it. The end of my birthday party. Surprisingly, I didn’t get too crazy and still felt great in the morning! Win-win, I must say.  Seriously though, this was probably my best birthday in a long while. I was completely spoiled. Here’s to another awesome year of life! *Cheers!*

Now it’s your turn, what is your favorite thing to do on your birthday? Leave a comment and tell me.
