A Beautiful Meal at Suay Restaurant

Suay, meaning beautiful in Thai, is the perfect name for the quaint little culinary heaven that Chad and I went to recently. Located in Phuket Town, if you live in Phuket or are just visiting, I would highly suggest taking some time out to enjoy a meal at Suay. This restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Tammasak, who not only makes a fabulous meal, but also is the Iron Chef Thailand in charge of European dishes. suay

Many people had recommended Suay Restaurant to me and I was not disappointed. Let me show you why:

We chose to have the Set Menu #1 for two people from the extensive menu. It was the meal that gave us the option to try many of the dishes that we had been looking forward to.

We started with the Yellow Fin Tuna Tar Tar. This delicious, buttery fish was marinated in Issan sauce, which is spicy and salty and sweet all at the same time. The fish tar tar, sauce cucumbers and julienned long green beans made was just perfect.

I honestly ate the Som Tam (Papaya salad) too quickly to even take a picture… I really need to start eating a snack before I go to delicious restaurants like this so that I can wait a second and take a picture.

The chicken spring rolls were crispy and flavorful. Not oily at all, they were paired with more issan sauce which made me want to lick the plate...

Now our main courses!
Now our main courses! I couldn’t get a good picture of the tiger prawns on their own (maybe because we dived in so quickly) but they were covered in a lemongrass and chili picture that was soooo good. The tiger prawns were huge and so tender.
This was my favorite dish of the night! Duck curry with lychee and pineapple. This spicy and sweet bowl of deliciousness was to die for! A must have!

This was Chad's favorite part of the meal, Shanghai noodles with pesto and squid served with a green chili sauce. The green chili sauce was "WOW!" spicy and the squid was cooked to soft perfection. It was awesomely paired with the homemade pesto.

Chad and I left completely stuffed after our meal, to the point where we could barely move. I cannot wait to go back to Suay. Make sure to check it out when you visit Phuket. You will not be sorry that you did!
